How should I compare AI video generators?
Start with five checks: whose face and voice the tool uses, whether the output carries AI disclosure, whether a cloned voice has permission on file, how the plan charges you, and who owns the finished video. A demo reel answers none of them. Every tool here is good at something, so pick the one that fits the work you actually make.

Someone choosing between AI video tools, usually with a subscription already running somewhere.
What you need
One clear photo, plus about ten seconds of clear audio if you want it to speak in your own voice. Cloning your own voice is on every plan, Free included.
What it costs
The free plan includes 8,400 credits once. The free plan's one-time starter credits do not expire. A video with a person on screen is 96 credits a second on the default rail, and that rail is open on every plan. The higher-quality talking-head rail is 152 credits a second, from the Plus plan and above, and it is the rate a paid Digital Twin video is quoted at. Plus is $49 a month billed yearly, or $59 month to month.
What it does not do

Judge the tool, not the demo reel.
Any of these products can render a clip that looks good on a landing page. These five questions decide whether the video is safe to publish and genuinely yours. Ask them of us too.
1. Whose face and voice is this? A real person's likeness needs that person's permission, on file, kept current. Ask what the tool stores, who can use it, and what happens when someone withdraws it. At Kyndrify a real-person Digital Twin cannot render at all without a current consent record, and a character with nobody behind it is presented as an Avatar, never as a person who agreed to appear.
2. Can a viewer tell it was made with AI? Platforms and regulators are moving the same way, and the work of proving it should not land on you at upload time. Look for disclosure that travels with the file rather than a switch you have to remember. Ours, said plainly: Built-in AI labelling is still rolling out across output types, so a publisher writes the disclosure line rather than assuming the file carries it.
3. Did the voice agree to this? A cloned voice should come from the person who owns it, with permission recorded. Ask whether the tool ties a voice to a consenting human or lets anyone upload anyone. 4. How does the plan actually charge you? Some plans sell a credit allowance, some publish that allowance as minutes of finished video, some cap how many videos you get a month. Work out the cost of one real week of your own output before you compare headline prices. Kyndrify charges credits per second of render, so a short clip costs little and a long one costs more.
5. Who owns what comes out? Read the terms for commercial use, for resale, and for what happens to your videos if you stop paying. This is the clause people skip and regret.
How we compare, and how often we check.
This page is written by one of the companies being compared. So here is the standard we hold ourselves to, and you can hold us to it.
Every line about another company has a source and a date. What we print is what that company publishes about itself, with the month we read it. If we cannot find it on their own page, it does not go on ours.
A tick needs a compared fact. If their side says it varies, nobody won that row, and we do not paint a checkmark on it. A table where we win every line is a sales sheet, not a comparison.

We re-read every ninety days, and one person owns each page. Prices and features in this category move faster than any page keeps up with on its own, so check the vendor's current pages before you buy. We do not publish a ranking. No ranking with us at the top. We have not tested every tool end to end, and a list like that would be marketing wearing a lab coat.

HeyGen. Their pricing page sells credits as a single currency across video and asset creation, on a free tier and paid tiers. The same page lists 500+ stock video avatars on the free tier and 700+ on every paid one, and names integrations with n8n, Make, Hubspot and Zapier on one of its paid tiers. Synthesia. Their pricing page sells each plan as a credit allowance, monthly or yearly, and prints a minutes equivalence beside it, so a plan can be read as a number of finished minutes before you buy. Across those plans they advertise 160+ languages and voices. When another tool is the better buy.

A course that has to report back. Quizzes, branching, completion tracking, export to a learning system. We build videos, not courses.
A software walkthrough. If the star of the video is your screen, you need a recorder and a zoom tool. We do not record screens.
A deck turned into video. There is no slide import here. You would be pasting your script in by hand.
Dubbing footage you made somewhere else. Dubbing works on a video that was made in Kyndrify, not on a file you upload. Dubbing is on the Plus plan and above. It keeps your own voice, in ten languages, on a video this studio rendered.
And the plain version of where we do fit: one real person, talking to camera, over and over, without the filming. You do not have to cancel anything to try this. The free plan includes 8,400 credits once. The free plan's one-time starter credits do not expire. That is enough for a first video of about a minute on the standard rails. A free render carries a small visible mark; it comes off from the Basic plan and above.
Plus is $49 a month billed yearly, or $59 month to month. On a paid plan a single talking-head video runs to thirty minutes. Talking-head video renders up to 1080p, from the Basic plan and above. Subscription credits expire at period end, and one-time packs expire after 3 months. The higher-quality talking-head rail is 152 credits a second, from the Plus plan and above, and it is the rate a paid Digital Twin video is quoted at. So the arithmetic is yours to do before you commit. Payments are not refunded. That is exactly why the Free plan starts with credits: spend those first.

Choosing between them.
- How often do you check the other tools?
- Every ninety days, and one person owns each page. The month we last read a company's own pages is printed beside every line we took from them. Anything we cannot still find on their site comes off ours.
- Why is there no ranking of AI video tools here?
- Because we would be on it, and we would be the ones writing it. We publish the checks and our own limits instead, and let you run them.
- The tool I am considering is not here. What now?
- Run the five checks on it yourself. They are written to work on any tool in this category, including ours. If the answer to any of them is hard to find on the vendor's own site, that is an answer.
- Can I try Kyndrify without cancelling what I already pay for?

- What is the difference between a Digital Twin and an Avatar?
- A Digital Twin is a real person, built from their own photo and voice, with a consent record that has to be current before it can render. An Avatar is a character with no real person behind it. Both are here, and the difference decides whether a consent record is needed before anything renders.
- Do you compare on price?
- Not on this page. Plan prices in this category change several times a year, and a price we print today is a promise we cannot keep about somebody else's business. Ours sit on the pricing page beside the plan they belong to.
