AI Video for Etsy Sellers

An Etsy seller can use an approved AI Twin for a checked shop introduction, process explanation, care reminder, or off-listing promotion. Do not use a generated presenter to replace original product media that Etsy requires. Whether a clip may appear in a listing depends on the item, the media, and Etsy's current rules. This guide gives you a source-checked release process.

What Etsy requires before you upload any video

Etsy sets firm rules for handmade, designed, and sourced goods. Know where your item fits before you make a frame.

The current Seller Policy took effect on July 9, 2026. Etsy requires accurate information about how, by whom, and where an item is made and shipped. A seller must disclose a production partner when the rules call for it. Etsy generally requires the seller's own photos or video, subject to stated exceptions. The policy also covers accurate item details, intellectual property, honest pricing, and processing and shipping times. Dropshipping and reselling are generally barred except in specified cases, such as some craft supplies.

The Creativity Standards define four categories: made, designed, handpicked, and sourced. Seller-prompted AI creations may qualify as designed by a seller when they use the seller's original prompts. Etsy requires disclosure of that AI use in the listing description and does not allow AI prompt bundles as standalone items. Made and handpicked items require original media of the real final product. Designed items have separate image rules, including finished-item requirements for personalized or custom products.

These are different checks. An AI-made presenter video is not the same as an AI-created item. A Twin may greet a buyer or explain a verified process, but it cannot fill a media slot that requires the real product. Classify the item and the planned video use before writing.

A practical decision framework for your shop

Use this workflow for each item and destination.

  • Name the item category and channel. Record whether the item is made, designed, handpicked, or sourced. State whether the clip is for a listing, shop page, email, ad, or video platform.
  • Freeze the listing facts. Save the current price, processing time, shipping method, options, materials, provenance, and production-partner details. Assign an owner to each fact.
  • Decide what real-product media is required. Check the current Etsy rule for the item category and use. Do not assume a Twin counts as product footage.
  • Review every asset. Check names, logos, music, designs, photos, and clips. Record the source and permission for each one.
  • Review buyer quotes. Keep the original quote and consent record. Note any free item, discount, or other material connection. The FTC endorsement guide says endorsements must be truthful and not misleading and that material connections may need clear disclosure.
  • Set separate disclosures. Record any Etsy disclosure tied to the item or listing. Then check the destination platform's rule for the video itself. These are not the same task.
  • Approve, render, and watch. Compare the final script with the frozen facts. Watch the full output and confirm the intended media and notices are present.
  • Publish and monitor. Save the version, approval, and source dates. Set a review date, replacement link, and takedown owner.

Keep the item check and video check apart

Start with the item. Ask who made it. Ask where it was made. Note the role of each partner. Save the facts that show its type. If AI helped make the item, check the Etsy rule for that use. Put the right note in the listing when the rule calls for it.

Then check the video. Ask where it will run. A clip on a shop page may face a different rule from a clip on YouTube. Check if the host looks real. Check if the host says or does something that did not take place. Add the notice that the site calls for.

Do not use one note to stand in for both checks. An item note tells a buyer how the item was made. A video note tells a viewer how the clip was made. One does not fix a gap in the other.

Keep proof for each choice. Save the rule link and check date. Save the exact note and where it will show. If the item, clip, or site rule changes, run both checks again.

Review a buyer quote with care

Find the first copy of the quote. Do not work from a crop with no name or date. Check that the words are still true. Do not add praise that the buyer did not give. Do not turn one view into a claim that all buyers will share.

Ask if the buyer got a gift, deal, fee, or other perk. Keep that fact with the quote. Add a clear note when the link could change how a person weighs the praise. Place the note where it can be seen with the claim.

Check what the buyer agreed to share. A shop review may not grant all rights for a new ad or video. Keep the consent record and its scope. If the scope is not clear, leave the quote out until it is.

Set a review date. Remove the quote if the item or claim no longer fits. Keep the old clip in the archive so the team can trace what ran and when.

How a consent-verified AI Twin works

Kyndrify builds a Twin from an approved person's face and voice. The sales page documents setup with a headshot and a short voice clip. The user supplies the script. Each Render provides a download and a hosted link. Longer scripts can be split and stitched.

The alternatives page documents recorded consent, pay-per-Render billing, AI disclosure, C2PA Content Credentials, and a forensic watermark. The cited pages do not document Etsy integration, product-photo tools, stock sync, production-partner fields, listing publishing, captions, languages, analytics, 1080p, render speed, a free tier, or commercial rights. Treat each undocumented item as unconfirmed.

C2PA Content Credentials carry provenance data. An AI disclosure identifies the AI use. Neither control proves Etsy eligibility, item originality, listing accuracy, product-media compliance, rights, buyer consent, delivery performance, or platform compliance. Keep them in the release record, but complete every other review separately.

Building a shop-video release record

Keep one short record for each clip.

Field Record
Identity Shop, item, clip version, and Etsy policy check date
Use Creativity category, audience, channel, and listing-fact owner
Commerce Price, processing, shipping, and production-partner sources
Etsy AI-item disclosure and real-product-media decision
Rights Intellectual-property review and asset permissions
Buyer quote Original source, consent, and material connection
Platform Required notice and placement; for example, check YouTube's altered-content rule for realistic synthetic media
Control Approver, expiry, archive, replacement link, and takedown owner

A fictional shop-introduction script

This example uses placeholders only. It makes no real claim about a shop, buyer, product, material, origin, partner, price, shipping time, review, rank, order, or revenue.

"Hi, I am [approved presenter name] from [shop name]. This video introduces [verified item or shop topic]. Our current listing says [verified item fact]. The relevant process or partner detail is [verified disclosure]. For care, options, processing, and shipping, please use [current policy or listing route]. If you have a question, contact us through [verified support route]."

Fill each placeholder from the approved source set. Remove any line you cannot support.

Cost inputs and pricing snapshot

Kyndrify documents pay-per-Render billing. Estimate direct cost from the planned render count and the current price. Add review labor, media licenses, editing, and platform spend as separate inputs. Do not add assumed visits, favorites, orders, conversion, time saved, or revenue. Check current pricing before approval.

A final release gate

Do not publish while the item category, media rule, or destination is unclear. Stop if a price, process, shipping, provenance, or partner claim lacks a dated source. Stop if rights or buyer consent are missing. Check the Etsy item disclosure and the video-platform disclosure as separate rows. Release only after the final render, record, review date, and takedown owner are complete.

Five frequently asked questions

Can I use an AI Twin clip as my main listing media? It depends on the item category, the clip, and the current media rule. Made and handpicked goods require original media of the real final product. A generated presenter does not replace that proof. Designed goods have separate rules. Check the Creativity Standards and Seller Policy for the exact use.

Do I need to say the clip is AI-made? Do not merge two different duties. Etsy's cited rule requires disclosure when an item uses seller-prompted AI. A destination platform may have a separate rule for a realistic synthetic video. For example, check YouTube's altered-content policy. Apply the current rule that matches the item and channel.

Does a C2PA mark make my clip Etsy-safe? No. Content Credentials carry provenance data. They do not decide Etsy eligibility or prove item facts, media compliance, rights, or buyer consent.

What if my item facts change after I post? Review every live use of the old claim. Remove or replace the clip when it no longer matches the listing or policy. Save the old version, the change date, and the new approval in the release record.

Can I use a Twin to make item photos for a listing? The cited Kyndrify pages do not document product-photo generation. Etsy's current rules generally require a seller's own media and set category-specific product-image requirements. Use media that satisfies the live rule for the item; do not treat a presenter render as proof of the real product.
