What is a Digital Twin? Your face and voice

A Digital Twin is a saved real-person identity tied to current consent. Learn how it works and how it differs from a synthetic聽Avatar.

In Kyndrify, a Digital Twin is a saved real-person identity built from reference images, a voice, and current consent. It is different from an Avatar, which is a synthetic character and does not represent a real person.

You can reuse a Digital Twin while it remains ready and its consent is valid. That removes the need to record a new camera take for each supported script, but each Render can still vary.

What a Twin actually is

A Digital Twin combines three things in one saved profile: clear reference images of the real person, a voice recording the user has the right to use, and current consent from the represented subject. Together, those inputs provide the starting point for a talking-head Render.

  • Your face, from clear reference images.
  • Your voice, from an authorized recording.
  • Current consent from the real person being represented.

How you build one

Setup asks for clear reference images, a voice recording, and a consent recording. Kyndrify checks the consent recording against the subject's face, and current consent is required before a real-person Digital Twin can render. These checks reduce misuse risk, but no automated check makes abuse impossible.

Once ready, the Digital Twin lives in your Workspace and can be reused while its consent remains current and has not been withdrawn. You do not need to rebuild the full identity for each supported script.

What you can do with it

With a Digital Twin in place, type or paste a supported script, choose the available style and format, review the credit quote, and submit a Render. Turnaround varies with length, selected quality, and current demand. Watch the result before publishing it.

  • Turn a supported script into a talking-head video.
  • Make lessons, updates, and outreach without recording a new take.
  • Reuse the same source identity and voice, then review each result.
  • Render a revised version when the script changes.

Why reuse changes everything

The value is reuse. A filmed clip is fixed, so a major change may require another take. A Digital Twin lets you reuse the same identity inputs for new supported scripts without recording a new camera performance each time.

Reusable does not mean permanent or hands-off. Keep the consent current, update source material when needed, and review each Render. Consent can expire or be withdrawn, and the Digital Twin must stop rendering when that happens.

Built with consent and trust

A real-person Digital Twin requires current consent and matching identity evidence before it can render. Kyndrify's disclosure and provenance layers are still being rolled out across output types, so coverage varies today. Review the exported file and add a clear AI label wherever a channel or local rule requires one.

Put simply, a Digital Twin is a saved real-person identity that can be reused while it is ready and consent remains valid. An Avatar is a separate synthetic character. Choose the one that matches who should appear on screen.
